Casey DeMattina - Percussion

Casey graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in Music Merchandising in December of 2007. At EKU he studied under the tutelage of Jason Koontz(BLAST!) and was exposed to percussion music from all over the world, specifically studying percussion from Africa (hand drumming), Brazil (batucada), India (tabla), and the Caribbean (steel pan

Casey performed with world famous steel pan players Andy Narell, Liam Tegue and Phil Hawkins at the 2008 International Pan Festival. Casey also studied classical western percussion in the percussion ensemble, orchestra and wind ensembles at EKU. In both 2003 and 2005, Casey performed with the Eastern Kentucky University indoor drum line at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention. Also an experienced rudimental percussionist, Casey toured with the Southwind Drum and Bugle Corps in 2004 as a member of the tenor line.

Recently Casey has been subbing with several area big bands and performs regularly with folk/rock group A Portion For Ruben. Casey also stays busy in the local musical theater scene playing percussion for several productions at the Woodford Theater, East Jessamine High School, Henry Clay High School, and Lexington Children's Theater.

In addition to being an active performer, Casey is also an active clinician and percussion instructor in the central Kentucky area.
